Warriors at Westbridge – A Viking Invasion!

Stone Town Council’s Warriors at Westbridge event brings a thrilling Viking invasion to Westbridge Park on Saturday 25 July 2026.
Prepare for an unforgettable day of Viking adventure! This free family event promises a full day of entertainment, history, and hands-on activities for visitors of all ages.
The Viking invasion begins at 10.30am from the Stone Town Council Building car park on Station Road, where members of the public are invited to join the crew of a Viking longship as they march through the High Street and onward to their encampment at Westbridge Park.
Once at the park, visitors will be transported back in time with an immersive Viking experience featuring dramatic battle displays, living history demonstrations, and authentic encampment activities. Guests will have the chance to meet the warriors, try on armour and helmets, and even handle Viking weapons under supervision.
Throughout the day, visitors can watch the warriors repairing and maintaining their equipment and undertaking traditional crafting activities that showcase life in the Viking Age.
Younger visitors can enjoy the popular ‘Kiddie Vike’ experience, where they can safely take part in mock battles alongside the warriors. The Council will also be offering free special-effects ‘battle scar’ make-up from 12 noon until 4pm, allowing children to transform into fearless Viking fighters. This activity will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and is expected to be extremely popular.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own picnics but there will also be a selection of food and drink vendors available on site.
Councillor Jill Hood, Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Town Promotion Sub-Committee, said:
“Get ready to witness the fury, hear the clash, and live the legend! Stone Town Council know that keeping children entertained during the summer holidays can be a challenge, and finding fun, interesting and free activities is not always easy. We are delighted to be bringing this exciting new event to Stone and giving local families the opportunity to experience Viking life first-hand.”
She added:
“Bring the whole family along and discover what life was really like for Viking warriors of the 10th and 11th centuries.”
