Councillor Andrew Best
Biography
Andrew Best has lived in Stone all of his life. Attending Christchurch First School, Christchurch Middle school and Alleynes High School. He then went on to Liverpool Hope University studying a BA (Hons) degree in IT and Education Studies. Andrew has a wife and three children who all work or study in Stone. Andrew’s hobbies include Table Tennis and retro computer games.
Andrew has recently been on the governing board for one of his daughters’ schools and he is the chair of Pubwatch in Stone.
Andrew joined the council in 2019 and before becoming the mayor for this year was the Estates Sub-Committee Chairman and he was also the Deputy Mayor in 2022 and 2025.

The Town Mayor’s Charities
The Mayor’s chosen charities are:
Stone Alzheimer’s Club, Stone Scout and Guide Band, and Man Time.

Deputy Mayor

The Deputy Mayor of Stone for the year 2026-27 is Councillor Robert Townsend.
Mayor’s Chaplain

The Mayor’s Chaplain is chosen by the Town Mayor and is appointed at the Annual Council meeting in May each year. The role includes leading prayers before Council meetings and participating in civic ceremonies.
The Mayor’s Chaplain is Reverend Paul Kingman of Christ Church.
