Texas Flag Raising on Monday 29 December 2025
Town Councillor, Councillor Jim Davies, led a short ceremony at the top of the High Street in Stone on Monday 29 December 2025 at noon to mark the Anniversary of Texas joining the Union on 29 December 1845.
The Army Cadets were in attendance along with representatives of local groups.
Remembrance Sunday on 9 November 2025
The Annual Parade together with Services of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Granville Square and later at the Parish Church of St Michael and St Wulfad took place on Sunday 9 November 2025.
Parade Personnel including veterans and members of ex service organisations were led by the Stone Scout and Guide Band along the High Street to the War Memorial where the Florence Brass Band were playing. The presentation of wreaths in accordance with the formal Order of Presentation took place before the two minute silence and a Service of Remembrance.
Civic Sunday on 13 July 2025
On an exceptionally hot Sunday morning, the annual Stone Civic Parade, led by the Stone Scout and Guide Band, processed down the High Street, from the Council Office in Station Road to St Michael & St Wulfad’s Church where Reverend Paul Kingman was waiting to lead the Civic Service.
The Mayor Making Ceremony took place during the service and the new Stone Town Mayor, Councillor Jason Metters, was presented with his Chain of Office for the civic year 2025-26.
Texas Flag Raising on Saturday 1 March 2025
Town Councillor, Councillor Jim Davies, led a short ceremony at the top of the High Street in Stone on Saturday 1 March 2025 at noon (Farmers Market Day) to commemorate the anniversary of Texas gaining its independence from Mexico on 2 March 1836.
The Town Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Philip Leason and Mrs Edith Leason, were in attendance along with Florence Brass Band, Mayor’s Cadet, Corporal James Haycock, and representatives of local groups.
The focus of the occasion was raising the Flag of the State of Texas and the singing of the Texas State Song, ‘Texas Our Texas’.
