Stone Town Council – Mayor’s Charity (2024-25)
PRESS RELEASE
Stone Town Council – Mayor’s Charity (2024-25)
The Town Mayor has many important roles to fulfil during their term of office, one of which is fundraising for local charities.
At the beginning of their term of office the new Mayor selects charities and community groups to support. They must be operating in Stone and surrounding areas, serving the local community and helping to improve the lives of residents in the town.
The Town Mayor fundraises through the year, and the fundraising efforts are distributed to their chosen charities at the end of their Mayoral term.
Councillor Philip Leason held the office of Stone Town Mayor during 2024/25 and during this time he raised £3766.57. Councillor Leason’s chosen charities were Stone Community First Responders, Alzheimer’s Club and Stone Stroke Club.
Councillor Leason has presented the Mayor’s Charity donations to his chosen charities with Stone Community First Responders receiving £2,500, the Alzheimer’s Club £500 and the Stone Stroke Club £766.57.
Councillor Leason said “It is a great honour to act as Mayor of Stone and I am particularly pleased to have been able to raise funds for such deserving causes, which will be used to better the lives of the town’s people.”
