Remembrance Sunday 9th November 2025 and Armistice Day Tuesday 11th November 2025
Stone Town Council warmly invites members of the public to join Town Councillors and members of ex-Service Organisations in remembering those who gave their lives for us at its Remembrance and Armistice commemorations.
Remembrance Sunday
The Annual Parade, together with Services of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Granville Square and later at the Parish Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad, will take place on Sunday 9 November.
The arrangements are as follows: –
10.15 a.m. Parade Personnel to assemble at the bottom of the High Street.
10.35 a.m. Parade, led by Stone Scout & Guide Band, will proceed along the High Street to the War Memorial, where Florence Brass Band will play.
10.45 a.m. Presentation of Wreaths in accordance with an Order of Presentation (to follow). Persons laying wreaths (including any not on the Order of Presentation) should kindly report to Mr I. Prescott, the Parade Marshal, during the assembly in the High Street, to be briefed on the wreath laying ceremony.
11.00 a.m. Two Minutes Silence and Service of Remembrance.
All those laying wreaths will be asked to walk together in the parade or asked to assemble together prior to the parade reaching the top of the High Street and asked to stand near to the War Memorial in order to streamline the laying of the wreaths.
At the conclusion of the Service at the War Memorial, the Parade will proceed to the Parish
Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad via High Street and Church Street led by Stone Scout & Guide Band, where the Colour and Standard Bearers are requested to line up at the entrance to the Church, and when instructed enter the Church, present their Colours, and then take the seats reserved for them.
After the Church Service the parade will disband.
Earlier during the morning, the customary Service of Remembrance will be held at the Walton War Memorial, Whitemill Lane, Walton, commencing at 9.30 a.m. Persons attending should kindly assemble at the War Memorial by 9.20 a.m. Please note the slightly earlier start time for this service.
Armistice Day
A short ceremony will be held at the War Memorial in Granville Square at 11.00am on Tuesday 11th November.
